Rope Halter & 14' Rope

The most notable of our training tools are the rope halter and the rope. A style or version of these is used by many of the top trainers in natural horsemanship. The rope halter that we use has 4 knots going across the nose of the horse, Clinton Anderson style. The ropes we use are 14' long and slightly weighted at the end (for twirling) with the leather 'popper'. We use these for almost all of our groundwork and everyday handling.

Stick and Rope

We use the "Handy Stick" and it serves as an extension of our arm for cueing a horse. It is a fiberglass pole about 4 foot in length with a leather tab at the end which you can attach a rope that is 4 foot in length. This tool allows us to keep a little distance between us and an extremely disrespectful horse, yet still accomplish our training goals at the same time.

Aussie Tie Ring

This is an item that is specific to Clinton Anderson (as far as we know) and we use every day. We have 5 of them on our hitching post and no longer tie horses up the traditional way. This tool is intended for horses that have learned that pulling or 'setting back' is rewarded by freedom. Essentially, the horse breaks what they are tied to or they break the rope or the halter with the end result for them being able to run around freely (at least for the moment). The tie ring is intended to help break that problem.
